The next meeting of the DC Democratic State Committee will be Thursday, January 3rd, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Thurgood Marshall Center, 1816 12th St. NW.
To kick off 2019, we’ll be joined by Mayor Muriel Bowser, who is listed on the agenda as a guest speaker. We also expect to have co-chairs for each of the DCDSC’s subcommittees announced.
Since new leadership was elected in September, the DCDSC has primarily focused on restoring basic organizational functions, like regular agendas announced to members in advance, meetings advertised publicly so rank-and-file Democrats can see what their leadership is up to, greater coordination between the state committee and Democratic organizations in each ward, election of Add-On members, and so on.
With the final two pieces (committee co-chair appointments in January; results of a financial audit soon after) of basic functioning restored in early 2019, I expect we’ll start seeing real deliberation and movement on the issues Democrats elected us to address. I’m already developing my list of resolutions for introduction in the new year, and I’m reaching out to fellow committee members to get their insight and support.
